UBKA Conference 2024 – ‘Bee Prepared – Facing the Future’

Conference season is fast approaching, with this Year’s UBKA Conference taking place on 16 and 17 February in the Greenmount Campus. 

Promising to be bigger and better than ever, with more than 400 beekeepers expected. Broadly on track with over 100 bookings.

We have a truly international cast of first-class speakers, and an impressive range of practical workshops- something for everyone. 

Speakers include:  Professor Jay Evans, a Lead Scientist in the US Department of Agriculture’s Bee Research Laboratory and a leader in the US Honey Bee Genome Project;  Professor Meghan Milbrath, Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology at MSU, where she undertakes honeybee and pollinator research and coordinates the Michigan Pollinator Initiative;  and Professor Robert Pickford, an international authority on the biology of honeybees. 

Several prominent speakers from UK and Ireland, covering topics as varied as bee communication, maximising production of honey with native bees, swarm biology and control, facing the Asian hornet threat, and honey fraud.

This year the Trade Show bigger and better than ever, including Thorne, Abelo, Donegal Bees, Sherriff and Burkes.  Thorne, Abelo and Donegall Bees are accepting pre-orders, for collection at the Trade Show and Thorne and Donegal Bees will be operating their usual wax exchange .
